South Dakota is one of the leading producers of Prairie Ducks in the nation. Lake Thompson and several other connecting lakes make it the largest natural body of water in South Dakota. Along with our local duck population, we have a large population of Giant Canadian geese that call this area home from early spring till the lakes freeze in early fall. Goose hunting near the Missouri River in Pierre, S.D. is one of the largest staging grounds for central flyway Canada Geese. Numbers can reach 500,000 at a given time. The best months to hunt this area is December thru the First week of February.
We also offer early season Canada Goose starting September 1st. This season allows us to get an early opportunity at our largest populations of local Giant Canada Geese.
